Importing materials

Post by Josh Rayburn »

When opening a customer's job, I clicked through 'add material' a few times and realized that one of the materials should have been grained.
My client had it set up as grained, but it didn't import that way.
Is this a bug or is there a reason it doesn't import the material....properly?

Josh,

I have tested this and not been able to reproduce it.

However, I did find an issue with this trying to reproduce this, that I think is what you actually found. If a 5.2 cabinet was loaded with a material and no grain selected, then in V6 when this loaded, the material is created correctly.

Now, change the material type in 5.2 to grained, but with the same everything else, V6 is not flagging a material issue since the material has technically changed. This is an issue that should will be fixed in the near future.

Yep, that's it Ryan.
So that answers my question - if a material is or is not grained, that information should be brought over when the material is imported.
Cool, thanks!
