Square footage of countertop material
Will eCabinets calculate and show the square footage of countertop when added to a custom layout? If so, where is this information available?
Sincerely,

I don't think it will but it sure would be nice if it did.

Wouldn't it be nice if you could take this to the point you could cut the material on a cnc with sink cutouts, mason mitres or full mitres. Toggle holes for Toggle joining bolts. If you don't have a Thermwood a means of doing a sketch that can be faxed/emailed to your counter top manufacturer. Then what be really sexy is to get a cost automatically. Down under we get charged by length of top based on width. Also the number of faces seen. The default is one. The number of joins and cut outs adds to the cost.
Have I missed anything guys?

Re: Square footage of countertop material
Neville,
About 24 or so years ago I Charged $1.25 per inch for an edge veneer laminate top that included everything, backsplash, miter, cut outs, delivery, and install. I wish everything was that easy to bid.

Re: Square footage of countertop material
Yeah your right Gary. The trade has become more complicated. I remember being told that a job usually could be 50% labour and 50% material This was a good double check when I first started. The choice of materials and hardware has turned that easy concept on its head. Even Thermwood can't seem to get the costing part right for kitchens and they make machines for the space program. Not much hope for us hands on people.
Seriously the information is there if the programmers wish to give us another feature. To cost it out for everyone or give us some facts eg square meters/foot,length of seen faces and to use the data if you own a Thermwood to make laminated plastic tops or cut Acrylic material or make templates for our granite suppliers.
Regards
Neville
