Reception desk
I need to design a desk that starts with a five foot length at the front, then angles at a 45 degree to run six feet at the front, then another 45 degree the last leg being five feet long. I have looked through the old posts, but not finding what I need for an answer. I have the vidieo's that you rent each month, but can't seem to find what I need.
It would be great if there was a seed cabinet. Am I missing something.Could use some advice, don't have much hair to pull out.
Thanks Tony

Re: Reception desk
Hi Anthony
Have you tried to use a standard corner unit and in construction settings change the angle to 135 degrees?
It might fit in with what you are trying to do.

Re: Reception desk
I think that the corner cabinet at 135 degrees with an angled front may be the answer, but it would seem like the resulting parts (top and deck) would be too large to nest on a sheet.
When using a corner cabinet, you can change the angle and style of front to the Corner Settings tab in Construction Settings dialog. Then, you'll need to open up another dialog with the "blue" arrow adjacent to the cabinet dimensions. Click on the "?" to view the matrix about your options to make changes to the varous depths. For example, it seems that you'll want to change the the measurement for your Left and Right Backs to get the lengths you described.
The options for these two dialogs are explained in the videos, but do not reflect your exact design needs. As there are many possibilities or applications for the corner cabinet, I felt it better to explain the options at this point rather than how to build one particular application and still not fit the needs of all.
Another possibility is to see if your desk could be an assembly of multiple cabinets and/or parts.
You might post a drawing of this project with simple dimensions for additional help or if you get it figured out, then post the result.
Thanks,
Dennis L. Englert

At the bottom of the page that you are posting on is an "Upload attachment" tab. You can browse to the file, then "Add the file".

Re: Reception desk
Kerry thank you, thats exactly what I'm trying to do, although the back side will all be opened ( except for the gables) I have the videos but can't find the one showing how to make those ends at a 45 degree. Tony

Re: Reception desk
You just use the corner settings in Construction Settings -- see pic --Anthony Towers wrote:Kerry thank you, thats exactly what I'm trying to do, although the back side will all be opened ( except for the gables) I have the videos but can't find the one showing how to make those ends at a 45 degree. Re: Reception desk
The settings for changing the angle of a corner cabinet are in the last video of the Cabinet and Assembly Editor underConstruction Settings for Components. The part that pertains to the angle starts at about 3:15 and shows various options for changing the angle and the corner inset.
