DXF file questions

Post by Jeremy Schiffer »

Are lines on a "chaincompin" or "chaincompout" layer supposed to obey the pre-rout plunge depth?

I have a DXF file for cutting an MDF door which I made around a year ago. Normally for cutting these doors, I'll set the pre-rout plunge depth to 0, so the bit will only ramp into the material with no straight downward plunge. I don't recall having any issues with it, but yesterday while cutting, it kept plunging the bit 6mm before starting the ramp-in/rout, even though the pre-rout plunge was set to 0. The OUTLINE plunge was set to 6, however, and chainging that to 0 fixed it.

From what I've gathered in testing over the last couple of days, a CENTERLINE layer will obey the pre-rout plunge depth, while a CHAINCOMPIN layer seems to obey the outline plunge depth. This doesn't seem right, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't this way before the last couple of CN updates. Can anyone confirm/comment on this? (Or, am I simply having some sort of mental lapse?)

Thanks!

Jeremy,

Thanks for the information. I've reviewed the information you've submitted and find the same as what your seeing, that the outline preramp setting is reflected in the chaincomp rout operation. I've submitted this information to our engineering dept. for further review and possible change in the Control Nesting Software.
