Hey there. I know you can't use splines in eCabs. So I was trying polylines (AutoCAD 2003) and I am running into problems, it won't highlight when I try to make a part out of it. I am trying to make a curved wall desk. And I was hoping I could make a representative to what I am building. One of my desks is a C shape and the other is a S shape. Of course they are not simple radius's. I ended up using a plotting grid to come up with the shapes in AutoCAD and then used the offset command to get the width and then I closed the ends with lines. So the curves are polylines and the ends are lines.
When I make a large cube and bring it into the parts editor then I import the DXF into the cube it shows up. But when I hover my mouse over the shape it won't highlight it. Nor does clicking on the DXF object highlight it.
Leo I had a similar problem awhile back with a file that a customer sent us. In our case the drawing was not drawn on the Z0 plain in other words it was not touching the part when imported into eCabinets. You could also see this thread http://www.thermwood.com/forums/viewtop ... =3&t=13291
Hard to say without looking at the file. Maybe look at this thread http://www.cnczone.com/forums/autodesk_ ... _arcs.html and read the post by Ger21. I've never used Autocad 2003 so not sure what methods would work in converting a spline to arcs for that version. Current Autocad can convert splines to polyline and you can fit arcs to that poly line, use a fit factor of 5 and see how that works. Ecabinets has trouble with files that have a lot of small lines or arcs, seems to lock up the memory, so using fewer segments/less geometry will load faster in part editor.
