Sheet stock for door panels

Post by Donald Thomson »

Has this issue ever been addressed to be able to select sheet stock for door panels?

When building shaker style doors, I like to use 1/4" plywood. In the Define Materials dialog, there isn't a way to set up a board stock with a Width. This option is greyed out when defining board stock. So to cheat the system makes it kinda tough to do.

TWD, any thoughts on making this a possibility in the next release?
Sincerely,

Hi Donald.
Are you wanting to machine the panels on the router or do you just want them to show up on the cut list as ¼ thick material? If you just want the ¼ material to be listed in the cut list then you can add a board stock to your board stock data base in settings and preferences. You can then select this material for your door panel. The cut list will give you the panel size.

Thanks Scott. That's what I ended up doing.

It would be nice to be able to have the CNC cut them especially for a large number of doors (2 project I have coming up soon). Nesting better uses material then cutting on the table saw. I guess I could lay the panels out in my CAM software (not eCab) and cut them that way. Lots of extra work though.

Do you have excel? If so you might check out this thread. We use this all of the time for our flat panel doors.
