Can someone tell me why the software extends the depth on this type of cabinet by the thickness of the side panels?
I enter a left and right depth of 304 and it produces parts for a 323 deep cabinet. The only thing I can think of it that it allows for the sides to be trimmed at the same angle to match the front, but I've yet to see a framless cabinet built this way.
Is there a way to put some type of warning that this is how its handled? I ask, because I didn't catch it today, and ended up with a large stack of parts in the dumpster as a result.
I believe that the development team assumed that these front edges of the angled corner cabinet sides would ALWAYS be manually mitered. The "extra" materiel left is calculated based on the materiel thickness and the actual angle of the front face. This is an elegant feature that I am sure some love. Unfortunately, the majority of our clients do not miter the front edges of these types of cabinets and must manually adjust the dimensions to produce the correctly sized side components.
I know that we had asked on a couple of occasions in the past for an option - similar to what was finally added to the back components - to NOT perform the adjustment for an assumed mitering front edges of the side components. I would assume that others may have as well - but I cannot be sure. This simple optional setting would make it far easier with frameless angular corner cabinets - particularly when substitutions of the end materials are made that would change their thickness and therefore require manual adjustments the the dimensions of the ends.
As I said - the programmers did an outstanding job and in this instance gave us all the "ultimate". Unfortunately, they did not add a automatic way of "dumbing it down" for a simpler look.
If we do get the option, i I would imagine that it would be based on the "Mitered Front Edges" would remain as the default with the "Flush/Butt Front Edges" as an optional checkbox type of thing.
