sounds like a solid machine to me, just check and see how much hard drive space your using right now as that 512 gig ssd will get pretty small pretty quickly.
its equivalent or better then what we are using right now

Re: Need laptop advise. How are these specs?
I've got 16GB RAM and Quad core processor in my design computer and eCabs really starts to slow down when I'm working on a custom room layout and start adding cabinets to it. I don't know what the magic amount of RAM and how many CPU's you need to keep performance good when working on large projects. After about 10 cabinets my work flow turns into CLICK, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT. CLICK, WAIT, WAIT, WAIT.
Sincerely,

Donald, I don't use the room layout feature much. These days just in cab editor and then put together a batch file. So maybe that is lighter usage then what you are doing. Thanks for input.

Re: Need laptop advise. How are these specs?
Well Donald, you could have a 30 core computer and it won't run any faster. As far as I know eCabs is still relegated to only a single processor core by code.
I have a Dell Precision 7100 with a i7 6820HQ quad core. It says it runs at 2.8 Ghz but it shows it running at 3.2-3.3 Ghz on a regular basis. I have 16 GB ram and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 SSD drive. That right there is what you need to have in your computer, the SSD is what will make the machine fly. I also run a NVidia Quadro M3000M video card which is a pretty pricy upgrade but makes a good difference.
I have been very happy with this setup. Especially coming from a Dell Inspiron without a separate graphics card.
