Smooth C Axis Motion

Post by Alex Munro »

Hi all,

I seem to have an issue where the C-axis motion doesn't move smoothly in conjunction with any X and Y moves. It will hold the initial C Axis position until the last moment, stop, move the C-axis to the new value and then continue with the rest of the travel.

In the Mastercam simulation, it moves smoothly between the two positions whilst moving X and Y, so it's obviously how the post is producing the gcode.

I have attached a sample piece of code that shows the C-axis behaviour. Between lines 1089 and 1599 is where it should be moving C but it does not.

Does anyone know why this would be happening and how to fix it?

Thanks
Alex

Alex,

You can talk with your reseller to see about something in the post, but likely it isn't something that can be corrected with a flip of the switch. Mastercam doesn't output any transition C motions to posting when the tool is vertical.
