Z axis problem

Post by Ian Richardson »

While the machine was doing a tool change. The typewriter arm moved under spindle. The spindle moved down to take tool but we had an issue with the air compressor and it didn't make the change. Stopped. My question, is there a way of moving the spindle back up to its home position then resetting and homing the machine?

Thanks

Hey Ian you may have already figured it out but you can teach the machine to move up in the z axis if it is positioned over the tool holder on the back of the machine if it is stuck in the typewriter changer then you will need to teach it to move in the x and y axis until it is over the machine bead before you raze it in the z axes be ready to expect the cutter to come out and fall off the table when you raise it just in case it has already been released

Once you get the air straightened out and proper pressure back to the machine, just hit NC RESET a couple of times to get it out of E-Stop. Then NC RESET, then BLOCK STEP -

The tool arm will reset, and the machine will slow-home as normal, raising the Z axis first. Works for us, and we've had it happen MANY times.
