It would be nice if in control nesting we could mouse over/click on the parts in the nest and get a name and dimension instead of having to write to cnc and look at the nest diagrams.
It would also be nice to have the the sheet dimensions on the bottom like how the sheet thickness is displayed.

Re: control nesting feature request
I second this !! Everyday I run into trying to find a problem part and it is annoying to have to write just for identifying a part.

Re: control nesting feature request
This was added with version 7.13 on 12/9/2024. It comes up when you hover over a part. You can control how quickly the pop up comes up from the Screen Properties. If off fall is oddly shaped it gives you the overall boundary size of the off fall. The pop up has a fair amount of information in it, including the Override Parameters (Nesting Parameters in eCabinets).
The sheet dimensions are not shown, but are available under Edit, then Material.

Re: control nesting feature request
Hey Clint. I just returned to the shop after a few years. I guess my replacements over the past few years have never updated the machine
Awesome update!! Love it so much!!
One question, can I assume the "A Side Up" in there refers to the part being inside the cabinet box if yes, and outside the cabinet box if no. ?
Also it'd be great to have the cabinet number B1, B2 etc listed in there to easily find in the list. But even just the name and information it does have is awesome. Love being able to see the dimensions.
You all rock!!! Thank you!!

Re: control nesting feature request
There are two facets to this depending on things. The "A Side Up" terminology refers to allowing Override Parameters to force a part to be flipped over when nesting if you so choose:PlatinumDave wrote: Wed, Jan 14 2026, 9:29AM One question, can I assume the "A Side Up" in there refers to the part being inside the cabinet box if yes, and outside the cabinet box if no. ?
- When the material is not set to Single Sided in Define Materials: There is still an A side passed to Control Nesting. This is going to be the side of the part that has the most operations done on it. If only one side has operations, this is the "A Side". Override parameters can force the "A side" down if you'd like it to be. Tool tip then shows it the A side is flipped.
- When the material is set to Single Sided in Define Materials: In the right click menu in the Cabinet Editor you have Edit Material A Side where you can pick which side of each part is the A side. By default, the A side is what you "typically" see for a kitchen cabinet. The top of the deck, top of shelves, bottom of the top, right side of the left end, outside of the doors, interior of a drawer box, etc. When material is set as Single Sided, eCabinets passes to Control Nesting which side is defined as the A side. When nested, ALL parts that are defined as single sided are cut free with the A side up. Override Parameters lets you flip those parts so the A side is down when it is cut free. The tool tip then lets you know if the A side is up or down.
I'll put the request in with the software engineers. No guarantees as it isn't as critical of a feature, but might be something to slip in with a little downtime here and there.PlatinumDave wrote: Wed, Jan 14 2026, 9:29AM Also it'd be great to have the cabinet number B1, B2 etc listed in there to easily find in the list. We thought the same thing, but its nice to hear other people say it too
