New fireplace mantel
Just completed this fireplace mantel. Red oak construction. All fluting was done on ShopBot. Deer scene carving is 40" long and 5.5" high. Coloring in the carving was done using a gel stain glazing process (can find it on Vectric forum (http://www.vectric.com/forum/index.php). Finish is hoeny pecan with 4 coats of lacquer. The first picture is what things looked like before the new mantel.

Re: New fireplace mantel
I didn't want to start a new topic and the name of this one works. I thought I would start posting some of my presentation images I recently worked up for a project which includes the cabinets for the house also.

Re: New fireplace mantel
the corbels and acanthus are from Osborne. and I used the molding in the software and the frames are miter doors. The finish is actually going to be a cream/white glaze with conversion varnish.
