Would some one take a look at this file tell me why I can-not cut part using closed contour.
Every time I get my hopes up of getting a simple task done in a timely fasion, I am reminded of the almighty's since of humor.
thanks Kerry:
I have trim/esxtended every line/arc too many times to count. I have trimed/extend using one entity and two entity. I have tried to off set the lines 1/4 inch and trim/extend, I have tried to move the whole pattern 1/4", I have tried to redraw, always the same error message. "not a closed contour"
but it seames to have worked for you?
Maybee I should have gone to church last sunday?
Jim
Thanks Josh
ithought of that too. I extended the existing lines, and erased every thing inside windows. then trimed again, and same error.
I tried to create parft using closed contour on simple square shape and it worked fine.
just a minute ago I erasaed all the striaght lines and redrew snapping to the arc and it worked.
I was able to cut your part by just extending where the lines and arcs met then trimmming. You probably didn't have Snap to Object selected when you first created the geometry.
thanks Kerry and Josh
the frustrating part is not knowing what is wrong. The same file I posted I tried to extend/ trim all the lines and arcs before and after I posted. it worked for Kerry but still would not work for me.
