CN bogged down

Post by Mark Hesketh »

i have been having more and more problems lately with the length of time it takes to go from screen to screen within CN. i am running v5.25. once i load a couple of ecab jobs, it takes a while to return to the main screen, but that is not the worst. most times, after loading the files, when i try to go to the \"add screen\" page, CN bogs down so bad it can take up to 5 minutes to get to the page. the task manager even shows control nesting as not responding. this also happens when i try to return to the load screen while several files are already loaded. it just takes forever. any suggestions?

Mark,

Have you installed any additional software on your control since it left our factory? Is your control hooked directly to the intranet?

so far as i know, nothing has ever been installed on the control since we got it, save for the CN updates.

the control is conected directly to our network through a router.

this problem has developped for me again, but now it is on our brand new machine. we just got the machine about a month ago, and now the computer is bogging down when trying to load jobs containing around 35 sheets of material or more. the task manager will even show that the program is not responding, but if i leave it for about 10 minutes it usually figures it out and goes to the next screen, or writes the code, or whatever. Defragging worked on the old computer... but i shouldn't be at the point where i need to defrag the brand new one.

i am running the latest version of cn, hooked up to the network through a router, and have not installed anything else.

any ideas/suggestions?

Mark, I know you're going to hate me for mentioning this but have you tried unplugging your network cable before nesting?

If you are running any kind of virus protection or virus scan on your network it will check all components attached to the network, ie your control. It MAY interfere with the computer resources used during nesting. I'm not saying it WILL, just that it may.

k, tried unplugging the network cable before nesting and it didn't seem to help. i think i might have just been trying to load to much all at once. there was about 100-150 dovetail drawers in the batches i was trying to set up. the big problem came after the parts were finished cutting. when i tried to go back into CN, it would just become completely unresponsive to the point where i had to force it to shut down and then re-run the latest CN update to repair the install (and clear what was loaded in CN).

it seems to work fine if there are much fewer dovetail drawers in the batch. i am keeping it down to about 30 in each batch now.
