Double Sided Tape to Hold Down Small Parts

We would like to try using double sided tape to hold down smaller parts on our CNC router table to keep them from moving while cutting.

Has anyone found a particular tape that you like and where can it be purchased? The key is to have a tape that doesn't leave any residue but offers enough adhesion to get the job done. I'm thinking of a cloth type of tape - like duct tape, but maybe there is a better choice.

Best tape, best price. I think you might have to call in and ask for the item #, oh heckk, just a minute and I will find it.....s-12921 2\"x36yards for 12.50 per roll, about a third per lf. of buying it in a store or lumber yard, and it is high quality.

Another option would be to cover up the rest of the table with some scrap wood or a sheet of plastic.

we have several sizes of scrap formica we have set behind the machine to cover the table depending on what we're machining...however there is no better insurance than a couple small pieces of double face tape!

Tried some Duck Brand Dbl sided tape today and literally had to take a chisel to pop it loose from the table.

I've been using Tesa Brand tape for years and just as you have discovered if it is strong enough to hld the part safely it is a bear to remove from your part and it removes the top layer of your spoil board. I hate the stuff and use it only as a last resort.

Will, you are correct about that, it will take a little of the spoil board with it, but I would rather resurface the spoilboard than have to recut parts.
