Re: eCabinet Software Poll
This is the most worthwhile thing we'll vote for this year huh Kerry?
How I actually do it is to add a percentage to "overhead" and "profit" in ecabs, and then I will figure the job by hand completely seperately, and then compare the numbers. 90% of the time they will agree within a couple hundred dollars on, say, a $10k job.

Re: eCabinet Software Poll
I voted #2, which is closest to how I do it.

Re: eCabinet Software Poll
Kerry,
I voted, but would like to make a statement.
The system and the idea is a great concept the only thing is that in my opinion it is incomplete and there is to many loop holes to get to where you need to be.
But this is the whole idea of the program is to make a fantastic drawing and from that drawing you get an acurate material list with all the hardware, and finishing supplies to produce a bid proposal. I may complain a lot but that's just me.
You have to admit the system needs work, but all in all it's a great tool and very impressive.
But you have to be able to depend on it and it must be consistent.
Thanks Gary

Re: eCabinet Software Poll
I voted for 2, but it is more like 2a, I use Ecabinet to bid and get a estimate on labor and sheet goods
But I have to use guesswork to calculate the board stock. I usely have to order about 3 time of lumber that
Ecabinet call for.

I voted choice 1 but afterwards use what the local market dictates for my final bid price.

Re: eCabinet Software Poll
I also choose number 2. I use eCabs for the raw materials costs it generates. I input the eCabs values into an Excel spreadsheet where I enter estimated hours for every task I think it might include. This is also where I add in stuff like finishing materials, shipping costs, glass and other miscellaneous stuff, sales taxes, and of course profit.
I'm very surprised at how few people actually take the few seconds to vote in these polls, but I guess when you consider how few people vote in elections I should not be.

Re: eCabinet Software Poll
I do pretty much the same as Joe. Then I also add a complexity factor as a %. There are simply some kitchens that you know from experience that are going to take longer to build and finish. I also don't add anything that slows down the computer, instead I add those items in the spreadsheets. Good idea Kerry, hope more people will take the time to vote.

Re: eCabinet Software Poll
I voted #2. I normally get my sheet quantity and board stock ( it works for me) for my face frames. I calculate the cost of my material and then according to how many boxes I have, I can get an average of how long it takes me to assemble a box and then go from there. Then I factor in the installation and finish, hardware, etc.
Not real difficult after doing a hundred or so kitchens. In the beginning it was a different situation with the guess work. (Formula was guess x3)
