Blank Screen

Post by Thom Davies »

How's it going?

When we run our warm up program 1st thing in morning 2 times now in a week the screen has gone blank. But when we run it all day it's fine. I can still press alt Q to shut it down and when i restart it the screen comes back on and stays on. We have had this therm for 5 years in FEB 09. How long is the life of the screen in the controller?

Thanks

Thom,
I had a problem with the vdu caused by the perspex cover slipping & pressing on the on/off switch below it. Could that be happening?

Sounds like the built in "5 YEAR LEASE PAYOFF METER" has been activated. Time to get a new machine. :joker:

Go to your control panel and check your power settings to make sure the screen is not set to turn off after so long a time of in-activity.

Hey

Daniel: Ive checked that and no its no set to turn off. Cos some times its sitting there doing nothing for ages and it doesnt turn off. Maybe a loose cable or time for a new screen maybe?

Damon: I hope it doesnt mean that! but it would be nice to get a new one. I could sell u the old one! Its goes fine! 1 careful company owner!

Sean: We have a old screen type. so its just glass. there is foam around it but it doesnt move. (as far as i can tell!)

It has only happend with the warm up program and i turn it off and turn back on and every thing is fine!

Does this happen every morning when you turn on your machine? If it does, your in luck as it will make it easier to troubleshoot.

If you have verified that the screen is not set to turn off or turning on the screen saver, than either the monitor is going bad or the video card is going bad. If it occurs every morning, try plugging up a different monitor. If it still happens it means the monitor is still good; the problem lies with the video card. Try taking out the video card and "reseating" it. Sometimes over time the contacts start to develop a thin film on them. This is easily cleaned with a pencil eraser.
