Counter Top Cut out

Post by Gary Puckett »

How do you accurately locate the cut out for a sink in a counter top. I have to use a three point arch to create the cut out

The way I have found to be easiest is to first draw a rectangle outlining the overall dimensions and locating it where you want the cutout.

Then, add "crosshairs" to the rectangle and trim the ends so it looks like a window pane.

With Object Snap turned on and the pick Box set to a size that allows you to "grab" the end of the "crosshairs" where they intersect with the rectangle edges, draw the three-point arcs.

Once you have both arcs in place, delete the straight lines and extend/trim the ends of the arcs. Save the geometry so it can be used again then cut the geometry from the part.

Thanks Dan,

I did have one idea I am going to try.

Going to draw the top with the oval cut out in another program( I have much more control for location) save it as a DXF file take the dxf file to the contour editor, place it over the counter top delete all unnecessary lines and make the cut out (I hope) :?:
