Re: Java program do I need it on my computer?
Java is a runtime library that allows programmers to write a single program that runs on almost any operating system from Solaris, to AIX, Mac OS, Linux, and of course...Windows. Java doesn't come with Windows so if you have it installed, it's a good chance an app you have uses it.
One generally does not need it, but some web sites use Java. My AT&T business account online uses Java so I have to have it. The Blackberry Enterprise Server also uses Java. If you have it installed, you need to keep it updated like other web-accessible stuff like Adobe Reader, Quicktime, Windows, and the like.
