I never could do this before!

Postby Nick Sollecito » Thu, Oct 28 2010, 9:41AM

I am finally able to take advantage of all the features of eCabinet and create very large jobs without my computer crashing. I just purchased an HP Elitebook 8540W. I am very pleased with the computing power and image quality. Also the price, 1529.00. That's less than half that I paid for my Dell Precision 6300 5 years ago. Gotta love technology!

Nice job!! I've got the system to handle it, unfortunately it is the operator that is the weak part of this equation.

How do you get pieces such as the arched range hood, with 5 piece panel construction, and your appliances in there? Is the range hood a display panel?
If it didn't come with ecabinets, it's not displayed in my kitchen drawings.... would like to get better at this stuff, but I'm slow enough just designing a simple kitchen, can just imagine how long it would be for me to get some fancy stuff in there...

I created an upper framed cabinet and deleted all the face frames except the top frame. I made the top frame the same height and width of the cabinet so the top frame covers the entire cabinet. I then took the top frame into the part editor and added the arch and the two recessed panels. The recessed panels are done in two steps. First I created the panel to the largest perimeter using the contour section of the part editor and cut it 1/4" deep. Next I created another panel 1" smaller all around and cut it out 1/2" deep. This is a rendering only not for production but it creates the illusion of a recessed panel. Let me know if this is not clear enough. I may be able to get some screen shots for you.

I forgot to reply on the appliances. All the appliances I used I found on eCabinets forum under 3D objects. I was able to scale them to size with the scale tool.
