When I first read the subject line, I thought to myself, \"How can Mike know about the big meeting in Jasper, Indiana concerning the Time Zone change?\" I didn't even think immediately about the ball game.
You see, there is significant debate going on just north of Thermwood concerning where to put the line between Eastern and Central time. I live in Dubois County which WAS in Eastern but moved yesterday to Central; now some businesses, such as Jasper Engines (of NASCAR fame) wants Dubois County back in the Eastern time zone. Spencer County (where Thermwood is) is--and always has been--in the Central time zone.
First, the governor wanted Daylight Saving Time implemented, which passed the legislature by, like, one vote. Then he asked the Federal D.O.T. to put all of Indiana into one time zone; not gonna happen. So then he asked all the counties to petition the Federal D.O.T. individually. The Dubois County Commissioners voted 2-1 to ask for Central (not exactly a clear vote on the issue). Then the D.O.T. issues a preliminary ruling that Dubois County will remain in the Eastern time zone. The governor gets involved again and asks the D.O.T. to reconsider. Then the D.O.T. holds three public hearings and decides, OK, Dubois County may move. So yesterday, we moved. Now the businesses in Dubois County say, \"Hey! We want a say in this, too!\" So, the County Commission is holding a public meeting tonight, probably upsetting all the NCAA Basketball fans.
All a big mess.

big old crocks...hahaha...gettin' kinda taudry in here.
that time zone thing up there is a mess. about ten years ago i helped do some work on a store in the big mall downtown indy. circle center? anyway, like a year later we went to fix a few things, we set up a time with the girls in the store to come in when they close. well, we were an hour late. they weren't happy. and i couldn't figure out what in the world happened.
