Dan, OH DAN are you out there?

Post by Michael S Murray »

Hi Guys,
I hit a snag tonight, I use my laptop to take to jobs and then transfer the file to my desktop in my office. Today I had to take a finished kitchen back to my lap top to take to a handicapped client who cannot get out and about very easily. When I transfered the finished room file back to my laptop via memory stick, I end up with anything from Conestago showing up with a image not found, you know the beutiful yellow door! I can take it back to desktop and everything is fine. Do I have a corrupt file on my laptop? I hate to just start taking stabs at it in an attempt to luck across the problem as i have been in a good groove lately and dont want to seriously mess with something I dont understand fully!! Any help would be appreciated.

Check C:\\Program Files\\Thermwood\\eCabinet Systems\\doors\\Conestoga\\DOORMAT and make sure it has the following files:

Also check C:\\Program Files\\Thermwood\\eCabinet Systems\\doors\\Saved\\Conestoga\\Standard and make sure it has both HSF and JPG files for each door you are using.

Thanks Dan,
I checked all those files and they are there. This is so strange, I can take a job file from my desktop, open it on my laptop and get the no image availble on all the conestago stuff. I can then save this job as something different, take it back to my desktop, open it and it is ok. Not sure what or why happened. Any Ideas. Can I take Conestago files from my desktop and somehow overwrite the same files on laptop?
Thanks for any help

Do you get the \"no image\" when adding a door or just when displaying the room? Do the doors show in the cabinet editor?

ok Dan,
on my laptop, I can go into cabinet editor, I can choose directory and I can see all cabinets in that file. They do show up with correct image for doors. Now if I pull one of them out of the directory into the cabinet editor, it shows up with the yellow door with image not found. Now if I go to the door drawer editor and remove the door and try and install something else, I still get the yellow door, in fact I just discovered that it is not just conestago, it is everything in the door editor, standard, slab, even thermwood. I also notice in the room layout that the mouldings are doing the same.If I try to reinstall mouldings I also get the yellow image.
Wow, now I am trying to do a global material change on the box itself, some material changes show up and some I get the yellow image not found deal?
UH OH...........

Do you maybe have eCabinets installed in different locations on the desktop and laptop?

Have you tried copying ecabinets.mdb and ecabinets.ini from the desktop to the laptop?

Michael,
On my sytem eCabinets pulls the image for the doors from the ecabinets/materials/Hard Maple/ folder if it is a hard maple door.
The ecabinets/materials/Red Oak/ folder if it is a red oak door etc.

The door editor preview image is pulled from the ecabinets/doors/conestoga/finishes/hard maple etc. folders but the images have to be in the materials folder also or I get the no image thing in a room.

What you are saying makes sense Kerry, especially since the \"no image\" jpg is in the materials directory.

From a programming perspective that seems a little convoluted though.

I thought that was strange also Dan but go rename an image in the hard maple folder then select that image for a door on a cabinet. You will see the correct image in the door editor but get the no image on the cabinet.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense to get the images from two different locations.

Ok I give, I have cross checked all my files that we have talked about and everything seems to be right, I have trnsfered everything I can find that might be affecting this. What is the best way to uninstall e-cabs from my laptop and then get the info from my desktop back on to my laptop?

Do an uninstall through the control panel. Before reinstalling though, try restoring an eCabinets backup from the desktop to the laptop.

On your desktop, do an eCabinets backup, copy everything in the backup directory to the backup directory on the laptop then do a restore on the laptop.

Michael,

I'm no Wizard but, are you running the EXACT same versions(including builds) of eCabinet Systems on both computers. I think there was a build that addressed a Conestoga image issue. Just a thought.
