I don't know much about this high tech stuff and have really been wondering about this...Does anyone know the best place to be saving the different files we accumulate for ecabs, mainly job files, cab libraries and 3d image files. When saving I am prompted to select a name and sometimes a location which unless I change the destination the file remains within the ecab program file folder. Is this a good thing, or should I set up a different area outside the main folder before I have a thousand files to move later? Or does it really matter ?
Cabinets and assemblies have to be saved in the eCabinets directory structure, in the Cabinets and Assemblies directories respectively.
In each case you must save to a sub-directory such as Cabinets\\kitchens or Assemblies\\bookcases.
Jobs on the other hand can be saved anywhere you desire. I created a directory in the eCabinets home directory named Jobs and save all jobs to that location. Others have created a directory in My Documents for jobs. The location really doesn't matter as long as you don't forget where you ptu them I prefer to keep everything underneath the eCabinets structure just for the sake of convenience.
The thing that will probably help most is to devise a directory structure that makes sense to you. For cabinets you can have as many directories as you wish but each must be directly underneath the cabinets directory. The same holes true for assemblies.

I know this isn't what you mean, but that's the key to developing your directory structure...you don't want to have to ever think about it when saving or loading a file.
