In the display part editor, is it possible to reorient the parts? Many stl's I import are facing the back. And, trying to rotate the part has me thinking !@!@#$%!^!\"
Yes Rick, it does invert the part X, Y and Z. But I was hopeing that this would allow a perminant origin.
I downloaded nearly all of the dxf files I could find. And when I open them they are reverse and when I rotate the with the mouse they take a three hour tour around in the editor somewhere.
I can live with it. But, I would like to see an improvement in the orientation.
Michael,
If you load a part in the Display Parts Editor and it is backward, Click on Invert Z as Rick suggests and then Save the part Then it will load correctly.
If the part is making a wide circle when you rotate it then the calculation for the center of the part is wrong. This happens with many imported parts because the person doing the drawing doesn't start this part drawing with 0,0 as the starting point.
To cure this open your dxf in Accutrans
Click on File/Save With Options
In the Center Point dialogue check Adjust then click Calc and this will reset the center point.
Now save the part and it will rotate correctly.
