I recently purchased a new laptop, and installed version 5.1. Version 5 runs well on this new machine.
I downloaded Build 2, but have not installed it yet. The reason: I read about so many speed issues on the forum that I am reluctant to install it. AND I am getting ready to attend the eCabinet training session May 1-3. As a result, if speed or some other performance issue is still pending with Build 2, I don't want to mess up what appears to be doing well for me.
Questions for the forum members:
1. Is Build 2 flawed in some way that I should not install it?
2. If I do install it, and then want to remove it and re-install the plain version 5.1, will I have to worry about Registry issues on my machine, or will just going to a previous Restore point take care of the problems?
Thanks!
.

You sound like me. I hate upgrading to something when I know there are issues with it, and there are. I find myself using V5 more often that V5.1.2 when I do larger jobs. V5.1.2 doesn't seem to handle them as well. So what I did was make a copy of the whole Thermwood directory (folder) and called it Thermwood2 then I did the upgrade and it worked on the Thermwood directory. Then I had to get a registration # for the V5.1.2. Now I have both V5 and V5.1.2 on my machine, both working. You just have to use the different icons to start the different versions. I have had many issues with cabinets that I have built in V5 that get corrupted in V5.1.2. Mostly the part editor cuts get flipped over and you need to redraw them. The best part of the upgrade for me was the board foot addition. It allows you to enter prices in bd ft and also allows you to choose how big your FF parts need to be without creating a new material. If you upgrade in this manner then you will have the choice of which version you choose to use.
