Scribed end panels anyone?

Can someone tell me how to design a cabinet with a scribe on the rear of the side panel where it meets the wall? I have figured out how to inset the back panel to account for a longer back and I have also figured out how to get a full dado on the side panel. I can't figure out to show it as a 1/4\" scribe. It get's confusing for production if it is shown as a full dado. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome Dave, in construction setting left or right end, adding a negative number to the back inset will give you scribe.

Thanks a bunch. I always cut the dado all the way out to the edge of the side panel and I was wondering if there is a way to clip off the little bit of wood that is left over It is always easier to trim a scribe strip if there is 1/4\" instead of the full 3/4\". I guess I can't ask for everything, huh.

I understand completely Dave, I build the same way. Makes it easy to nail too. I don't think a rabbeting feature is available in that area of the program yet, but the math is correct.

Rick...could you not take that part into the part editor and cut it down to the 1/4\"?

Dave, We do similar construction as you with our backs. On our uppers with put in 1/2\" backs, but in our ecab draws with put on 3/4\" back in flush , and full dadoed in the sides. Then when it comes time to cutting, we filter all backs, and cut them after. Also in the construction parameters for the back we put 1/2\" deep dado instead of the default 3/8\". So in the end you are left with a fin that is 3/4\" deep and 1/4\" wide, easy for scribing!
