Constraint Manager limit or bug?

Post by Paul Ellis »

Are there limits on the amount of profile cuts for parts editor OR the amount of profile cuts on a particular part that Constraint Manager can handle?
I am designing a coffee table with grooves on the top. I input them haphazardly in the part editor, hoping that I can space them evenly with the constraint manager, but I get a error 'Error in creating CutPath Segments' when taking either the cabinet or selecting the part and taking that to the constraint manager.
I attach the half designed coffee table for someone to take a look at.

PS. I tried to attach the coffee table but to no avail. I even zipped the file, but I keep on getting a timeout error.

Paul,

Are you on snail mail (dial-up)?

If so I would bet that to be the timeout problem. I have to take my work home (Against all real desires) and e_mail plans and pics to contractors and customers alike. At the house I have cable. This thing screams speed and can't get enough... snail mail is really a bummer...

It looks like you will have to remove the part editor cuts. You can do this by selecting the cabinet then selecting remove part editor cuts from entire cabinet in the mouse tier.
It’s always a good idea to save in generations, that way if something goes wrong you have a later version to go back too. It also helps us because we have a before and after of you project to look at.

Walker,
Thank you for looking into this. I did delete all the part editor cuts and input them with the correct spacing. (lazy me!). On this project it does not really matter whether I can or cannot constrain these cuts...but what I wanted to know is, is there a limit on the amount of part editor cuts that can be taken into the constraint manager? And also, if these cuts are made on the underside of a part, how do I turn the part over? (I experimented with the same table and could not see any of the cuts to constrain?)
Thanks once again for any feedback.

There is no limit to the amount of part editor cuts that can be taken to the Constraint Manager. As for pockets on both sides of a part, pockets created on the front view will show up in Constraint Manager as a blue out line those created on the back view will be red. With profiles they are green regardless of which side there on. If you are seeing something different please post the cabinet so we can see what’s going on.
Thanks
Walker
