need help !@#$% PC won't run eCabinets!

Post by KyleHepp »

I am so anxious to get eCabinets 5.1 up and running that I overnighted the disc in from Thermwood. Now that I have it, and have cleaned up my PC (because it won't run on our old iMac... ) It won't install! evidently, I have only 192 megs of RAM and the install popup states that at least 256 is required.
1) Is there a reasonable way to get this working on my PC, TONIGHT?

2) What should I be looking at as far as a new computer? My intentions
with ecabinetsystems go a long way, and I also would like to be able
efficiently operate ARTCAM in the near future.

I am completely disgusted with PC's. But if Mac is the wrong road to take, I suppose I'm used to putting up with the inferiority and need to build up a new PC.
Any help/advice will be graciously welcomed.

Also, I'm located in Bonita Springs, FL and need to locate a production sharing shop to mill parts for me. I have two small cab jobs on the table that I've been holding off on, so that I could get my feet wet with ecab (with minimal risk) If you're closeby and have machine time available, please message me with your contact info.
Thanks, -Kyle

First of all Kyle, welcome to the wonderful world of PC oriented e_cabinets systems forum.

Secondly, without the needed room and umph on your system it just ain't gonna run this program.

You asked the question;

1) Is there a reasonable way to get this working on my PC, TONIGHT?

Without this needed Ram No. If your system has open slot(s) on the mother board then it is possible with the help of Wally world or Office Max (or similar). you will need to buy a memory card.

You are simply not dealing with a LOW end program, this software is the best in it's class. presentation to absolutely custom cabinets is what e_cabinets is about. This forum has some of the finest and well seasoned cabinet makers in the world. All at the expense of jumping out on faith with e_cabinets.

I have a e_machine at home, one in the office and A dell which I do my production on, and, all of them run e_cabinets well. One of my e_machines I purchased at W mart and the other at Office max. I put a gig of ram in the computers and they run e_cabinets with little difficulty. This Dell I have at a cost of $4800.00 I am not as impressed with as I should be. my e_machines run this program with little difficulty, and at nearly a 10th of the cost.. You can usually pick up an e_machine for about 500 bucks at W mart. Throw in a matching set of cards and you are off to the races.

Thirdly I don't see all the hoopla about a Mac anyhow. I am aware with some issues PCs have because of the past rap sheet (so to speak) but, the PC world ain't as bad as all the GUNG HO Mac-ophiles claim.

This forum has so much to offer and everyone here would like for you to become efficient in the e_cabinets systems so you too can produce the BEST.

Again welcome aboard. And ixnay on the name calling...

Thanks

thank you for the advice and warm welcome. I added a 512k card with my existing 256k and have successfully installed and started up eCab! 8)

There's so much I want to learn right this instant, that I don't even know where to begin???

I only recently heard about ecabinets through a potential buyer of some machinery I was selling on eBay. A visit to Thermwood/eCab's website was all it took to thoroughly convince me that my archaic methods of production are best suited for only a limited set of circumstances. I cannot express enough how excited I am over the endless potential this system and its members have to share!

I look forward to the new MUTUALLY beneficial relationships I expect to encounter here, and to also \"meet\" or meet each one of you.
