Tool Change Problems

Post by Zach Froble »

I am having some troubles. After a tool change the arm is not retracting because the spindle is not raising up to allow it to retract. The error message say to check and make sure the spindle is set to program, which it is. The next part is that if I reset the machine and turn the swith to manual to try to start the spindle it doesn't work either.

Could there be a problem with Program/Manual switch?

All my sitches on the arms are working correctlly. We thought this might have been the problem but I am still not up and running.

I know it is a Holiday weekend so any help would be greatly appreciated.

we have this problem from time to time as well. usually it is due to one of two things. either there is some dust/dirt on the tool holder, which is preventing it from getting a perfect seal with the spindle, or there is a drop in air pressure for some reason or another.

most of the time, i will get someone to hold the arm and use the \"teach\" function to raise the spindle 5 inches. have someone hold the arm though, otherwise it will spring back at full force and may hit and bend the tool in the spindle... not that this has ever happened to me of course... errr...

once you reset the machine and give the tool holder a bit of a cleaning, it will usually work fine again. I will go a month or more without this happening even once, then it will happen 3 or 4 times in one week, then leave me alone for another month... just one of those weird gremlins in the machine

Hope this helps
