when nesting in CN, I would love to see a distinction on the nest sheets between nesting with your G901 or your G902 settings... maybe when nesting with the G902 setting, it could show the offset square in the corner and the nest set out from the corner of the table. Just looking for something that might help as a reminder to throw the square on when it is needed.
The reason I ask for this is that we run our finished parts for multiple jobs in one big batch, and use the G902 setting to place the 4x8 sheet away from the edges of the table. We always get frayed edges along any part edges that sit along the edge of the table with the G901 setting. However, I forget to throw the square on more often than I would like to admit when starting one of these batches. Thought a little reminder might help.
Would this be useful to anyone else?
CN suggestion

Hey Mark, I dont use the flip op fence for what you are describing, but I have had the same problem. What I have done that helps tremendously is to pull my waste board out to the pop up pins, stick it and then plane the waste board. It gives you a backer for those outside cuts, instead of them being over air space..

Does it not still deflect a bit under the tool when it runs along those edges? I can imagine that working well for a new spacer board, but what happens when the spacer board is getting down under 1/4\"?
Also, does your planer tool get all of your spacer board? or are you left with a ridge along the edge?

Hey Mark,
It helps tremendously. probably a litttle less effective as the waste board get thinner. KInda like a backer board when you a drilling through a finish pc. Yes my planer gets the whole wasteboard.

Mark,
There is a way to have the machine remind you at the beginning of every sheet to make sure you used the square if needed. The first thing you need to do is write a macro that asks you if you loaded the material correctly. This can be done with AFL or simple comment lines. Now you would need to give this macro a name that is not already used, like Macm454.thm, or something like that. Place that macro in the macros directory on your C: drive. Now, in control nesting, under the settings area, click the sheet macros button and type in the macro number(M545) in the sheet header. This wiil cause CN to output the macro at the beginning of every sheet. I know this sounds like alot of work, but it's really quite simple.
If you need assistance in doing something like this, give us a call at 1-800-221-3865 and ask for programming assistance.
