hole pattern for blum tandem

Hello all,

First time on the forum, so please excuse what might be a trivial question...

I HAVE a drawer base cabinet with three 5mm holes for attachment of a Blum 21\" Tandem Slide (holes are one per front, middle and back of slide -- plenty strong for this slide). I'm set up so that the bottom edge of the Blum slide is aligned with the bottom edge of its drawer front. I NEED to modify the cabinet for the same slide but in 18\" length, 15\" length and 12\" length. How do I do this? I'm sure it's simple but I'm getting nowhere. Thanks in advance.

Welcome Dan, the hole pattern should be the same for all the slides (tandem) so you should be able to associate your hole pattern with those slides. HTH

As with most of us we began by thinking we are asking trivial questions. That's not true here. We here all sorts, and all of us here have pretty much the same opinnion on questions.

Am I incorrect or is this slide different in length as well as cabinet depth?

If it is a different length as is the cabinet, then you will need to associate a different pattern with the right size slide. Each of the slide patterns as Rick mentioned are actually similar however, the longer the patterns are the more holes they have. For example you don't need a hole at the 14\" location for a 12\" slide.

The hardware hole editor is something you will need to play around with.

oops - I was very misleading when I said I needed to \"modify the cabinet\" for the shorter slides. What I meant to say is that I need to modify the hole pattern for the shorter slides. I am having trouble getting started with modifying the hole pattern and actually associating that hole pattern (which I gather is in a \".ptn\" type file) to a particular slide. I was bumping around in the hole pattern editor but it's not exactly intuitive for the uninitiated (at least not for me). Is there a tutorial for this somewhere?

Basically I have the x and y positions of the hole centerlines in reference to the front edge of the box and in relation to the bottom edge of the drawer front. I just need to understand how to enter this info and save it attached to a given slide length. While I'm thinking about it, it would also be nice if eCabinets automatically inserted the max. slide that would fit in a given box, but if it won't do that, oh well. I imagine a good idea would be to have a drop down menu where you could simply select the preferred slide (drawer box) length and it would load up the correct hole pattern and change nothing else. Is this possible?

Dan,

There is a help section of the Help manual and in the e_cabinets made simple section. Just type in the word hardware and it will pop up. This will give you a pretty good discription of the editor and how it works.

In the help tab at the top of the e_cabinets program there is the Help Manual and e_Cabinets Made Easy. Read both articles.

The hole patterns are already associated with those slides. Just select the slide and the pattern shows up on the nest.

The whole pattern shows, but the default pattern does not machine deep enough for system screws...at least when we used them it didn't

we had to go into the hardware hole editor and make them deeper

If you want to get the skinny on whole patterns for blum do a google search under\"Blum process 32\" it is a manual that covers most situations you will run into...

Dan, we also use the tandem box drawers and what i did was set 5 holes for the 500mm track and use that same hole pattern for all the smaller ones since their all at the same place, this way i dont need to change the hole pattern everytime I make a smaller cab, in the editor the holes stick out the back of a smaller depth cabinet but only machines the holes that actually touch the gable.
