Vista Install

Post by Brendan Sarradet »

I just wanted everyone to know that I have v. 5.4 installed and running on a Vista Machine. Install was flawless and all of my old files transferred over from my old PC without a hiccup. New HP laptop with Core 2 Duo and 2 Gigs or ram, no problems (so far).

Terrific, Brendan, and congratulations!

1. Which specific HP machine is it?

2. Which graphics card did you get with the machine, and does it have a graphics card with dedicated memory, or does it use shared memory?

I am impressed, because the people at one of the local retailers would not sell me the large, gorgeous 17-inch HP laptop, until they knew that the eCabinet Systems program was certified to run on Vista. I believe that a rash of returns has forced them to do this - I don't blame them, really, as it must be quite frustrating from a business standpoint.

To answer your questions:

It is an HP Pavilion DV 9500
1.8 GhZ
Cor 2 Duo
T5250
2 Megs Ram
2 Gig HD
32 bit
NVIDIA GeForce 8600

I believe the memory is shared, but to what extent I don't know. The graphics card and memory allocation seemed to be better in this one than in most. That was the deciding factor for me, based on what I know. Plus, the 17\" impresses customers as it is larger and easier to see the designs. I got this one at Best Buy, as much as it pained me to do so. Not a bad price for 2 processors and a 17\" monitor.

So far, no complaints. Light years ahead of my eMachines desktop that I was using. Now I can actually have several applications open at one time, including ecabinet systems software.
