Photos placed in windows render black

Hello,
Sometimes in Presentation View the photo images I have placed during window placement turn black. Do you know what might cause this?

Welcome to the forum, Bev!

It sounds like you might have a graphics card issue. Please provide some more information, such as:

1. Graphics card, and dedicated graphics memory

2. Total system memory

3. Resolution of the *.jpg images you are using

I would not know where else to start.

I too have had this problem even with top end graphics cards with loads of dedicated memory. It does seem to be related to memory though and by this I mean system memory because the problem becomes apparent the longer one works on a job, pictures that initially displayed, turn black after a while.

Nick makes an excellent point.

Have you been working in the eCabinet Systems programs all day? Sometimes, rebooting might help with this type of problem, especially if it IS related to memory issues.

I am grasping for straws, though, as I have never seen this problem on my system.

How are you placing the image? There are two methods of doing this.

The first, and easiest, is to add your image to the imported images folder and check the \"Apply Image\" checkbox when defining the window.

In the second method you add the image to a display cube that is placed some distance outside the wall. The window is created by cutting a hole in the wall before adding the window. In this method, the checkbox to apply the image is left unchecked.

Hi there!

Al, we have 1. NVIDIA QUADRO FX 1500 card with 256 MEG RAM using the QUADRO Tweak Utility
2. 2 GIG of Memory
3. The *.jpeg image is 2560 x 1920, 72 dpi
Dan, I placed the image from the Window Images folder in Materials.
Nick, try placing chandeliers at about knee level like Kerry does. It was either that or the re-starting that has fixed the problem. (Or maybe it was that power failure yesterday at 5:20 that unexpectedly ended my session!)

If the power was off I can see why the window was dark
