Hardware that ain't there

Post by Gene Davis »

Here is something for the wish list.

The folks at Thermwood that drive the eCabs software development, seem to want to be in the biz of selling hardware, or at least that is the way it seems to me that the software has been set up.

Unlike sheet stock and board stock, for which one may enter descriptions, specs, cost, etc., we are reliant on Thermwood to stick in the hardware.

That sucks.

Unless Thermwood makes a deal with, say, Ajax Drawerslide Company, we cannot see and use in cabs the Ajax slides we need.

You can read \"Ajax\" as any slidemaker, hingemaker, knob seller, etc., you want. I could have said Salice, or Mepla.

I know, I know, there is a workaround. You just have to index your slides, to those that are in the slide directory. Thus you have to go to your own private cross ref and see that \"Blum Tandem XXXXX.xxx\" actually means \"Ajax Ultra XXXX.YYYY\"

What a pain.

Gene,

Your wish is there command. From what I've been told there will be a user imput area for hardware as well as some other features that I believe will lend toward global changes.

User input and/or global changes would be very nice...

I really would like to see a hierarchy directory format for the cabinets.
