Drill bank problem
Any good reason (besides the obvious) why the Router would use a cutter to drill all my 5mm holes for drawer runners and hinge plates instead of my 9 spindle drill bank? It is using the drill bank for my shelving holes though.

also check to make sure that your holes are exact multiples of 32mm appart...
just remembered that we don't have the machine setup to drill only 2 holes with the drill bank. our machine uses our single drill (cutter) for hinge holes. It has to be a minimum of 3 spindles that will drop at one time. check your tooling setup. I'm not sure if you can set it to drop only 2.

Hi Guys. This is one of those things where everything is going just fine until..... The holes are all 5mm and at 32mm, and all these holes were handled by the drill bank until now. The runner holes are not at 32mm but were drilled as single holes by the drill bank very happily until now. I have a feeling it started after control nesting 5.33. Whilst we are at it why can the drill bank not handle 2 holes at a time for the hinge plates which are 32mm apart? Come on people, how difficult is that?

Nick,
Can you create and send us the export file from the Control Nesting along with the twd file and the esj file that created it? Send these files to program@thermwood.com. One last thing, can you send me the .cnc code the machine created also? Thank you.

Check this out for a fix

I cam e across the same problem around 4-5 months ago. Try this....
It seems that on one build or another, there was the introduction of some sort of prioritization of tooling within CN.
- For example, go into the tooling setup section of CN,
- then go to your \"operations\" area for the relevent tool group that relates to your material.
- then introduce your \"single drill\" from the bank spindle as the No. 1 tool operation. What ever was previously setup as the No. 1 tool group will of course have to be re-entered into the list further down.
Then re-nest the job and you should be good to go.
this approach worked very well for us.
You may then also find that given this seemingly slightly different apporach to tool priority within Control nest, you might like to re-do all of your tool groups again.
At that point you will be very thankful foe the new feature of being able to copy tool groups.
hope this helps
