registration code

Post by Randy Gale »

I've tried 3 times to use the registration code generator to get a new code for a new laptop. Each time it has said it sent one but I've yet to get one in my email. Help would be much appreciated.

If you have changed email addresses since you registered, it most likely went to your original address.

Make sure it hasn't gone to your junk mail folder.

I have also experienced a very irritating registration problem because I changed my workgroup name. Now eCabs tells me the name of the PC has changed and I must re register. This kind of thing has happened a few times for one or the other silly reason and now I can not get a new registration code because I have exceeded the max on my mail address. I can appreciate that Thermwood has a licensing problem but to call for a new registration because on changes the name of your workgroup is really stretching it!!! surely there has to be a more accurate way of determining the ID of a PC? If I sound peeved about this it is because I am, it would happen just before I have some urgent production to get out over the weekend and now can not process the files I need.

I would have to agree with you on that one Nick. You should be able to cancel your old code when your having computer issues. Apparently I have a dozen codes issued to me yet I only use one. They should have it reset when you install a new build. There's obviously more to it than meets the eye.

There are literally hundreds of identifiers in a PC--serial numbers, type and brand of every component, computer name, workgroup/domain name, date/time/timezone, logged-in user ID, and more--that make it unique to any other computer in the world.

When software is licensed to a particular computer, anything in its unique signature that changes can cause the license to become invalid.

My advice is to never make changes when you have a deadline to meet or on a weekend/holiday when Thermwood is going to be closed.

You might be able to get by with changing the workgroup name back to what is was. I don't know if that will work but its worth a try.

Sometime ago I changed computer time and realized it effected e_cabinets. So, I changed it back and e_cabinets opened. I sure thought it would cancel altogether, but I lucked out.
