Drawer Bottom question......

Has anyone had a problem with building dovetail drawers with slide in bottoms and the drawer bottom is not deep enough? It is cutting the bottoms as if they where cased all the way around. Some of the drawer bottoms are ok and some are not. Any settings or anything I should be looking for?

Here is a picture of the back side of the bottoms, you can see that they are flush with the back side of the drawer in the picture, but are not the flush when coming off the machine.

quick question about downloading. When you download someones cabinet, what file do you download it to and how do you open it and look at the construction settings? I have downloaded cabinets in the import folder and then opened them in display parts editor, and I have tried to download in the cabinets folder, but in the cabinets folder it will not open, says image not available. I was just currious how you guys are looking at other peoples problems and solving them. Am I downloading it to the wrong folder?

Looks like we were posting at exactly the same time Damon...

You save the downloaded cabinet in one of your cabinets subdirectories and open it via the Cabinet Editor.

I made \"test\" directories in cabinets, assemblies and jobs where I download files to. That way my \"normal\" directories don't get cluttered.

The file you actually need to post is Std_Dovetail Dbx -slide in btm_1-.hsf.

You will find it in C:\\Program Files\\Thermwood\\eCabinet Systems\\drawer boxes and it will either be in the standard or dove tail boxes subdirectory.

This sounds like a dovetail fit issue, which can be affected by several different things. Most critical things that I've found to affect this fit are the daylight value of dovetail profile tool and the precision of material thickness from design to actual material. I would recommend that you read through the Dovetail Drawer Boxes information listed in the Control Nesting Manual either online or right at your SuperControl. There is some good information talking about adjustments that can be made to adjust fit of your dovetail joints.

Ryan, there isn't a problem with the dovetail fit, the problem is the size of the drawer bottom not going far enough back to line up with the back side of the drawer. Like I said in the post earlier, some of the drawers fit perfect and some do not. Would you please explain to me how some drawers fit good and some do not if I used the same drawer on every cabinet. The daylight values are perfect in my opinion. When I measured off the spoilboard, I lowered the tool down to the table untill it scraped a piece of paper, took the z axis measurement and measured the thickness of the paper with a mic and calculated the daylight value from there.

- How much variance are you seeing?
- Look to see if there is a variance in the dado cut in back of drawer front.

Ryan, the drawer bottom extends past the drawer back maybe 1/8\" , but not the full thickness of the 1/2\" drawer back. I pulled the cabinet out of the room into the cabinet editor to look at the settings, but I do not see them anymore. I originally set up the settings per the control nesting hand book using the supplied thermwood cutter as specified in the book.

Should I be able to go back and look at the setting later? Because like I said, they are not there now. I made one cabinet to use with the drawer box's and then changed the size of that one cabinet to make the rest of the cabinets with drawers. Is it possible that when it was changing size that something got out of wack???????
