How to add a Front to a cabinet

OK, I have only had the software for two days so I may not be using the right terminology. I am trying to design my first product which It is going to be a kids play table. There are lots of them on-line but they are all very low quality and don't have very good storage.

I have converted a upper frameless cabinet into the Play table design but I am stuck on one problem. I can't figure out how to put a front on the play table. The top is recessed by 2" and surrounded on all sides so toys don't fall off. For some reason I can't figure out how to put a front on the table. I tried using just the top portion of a face frame but it won't allow me to recess the face frame flush with the sides using a full dado.

Any ideas?

Mike,
I would have to see what you are trying to make to be able to give you tips on how to create it. But when I am making tables I will rotate my cabinet so that the back is the top. Now you can use the top, deck, left end, and right end for legs. I have attached instructions that may help.

Another option would be to use 2 cabinets. 1 for your top and 1 for the base. FYI

Yet another option is to add a stretcher between the sides and set the insets on it to position it above and at the front of the top.

Here is a standard base frameless made 2" tall, top inset is 1.25" and a 2" stretcher on front. Load the cabinet into the Cabinet Editor and look at the Construction Settings. Then go into the Stretcher Editor, select the stretched and click "Adjust Stretcher" to see those settings.

Thanks everyone for the help. I got the Stretcher to work great as the Front piece.

I have another question now.

I have specified that the cabinet is to be 32.75" deep 48.75" wide and 18" high.

All of the pieces measure correctly except for the cabinet sides. They measure 33.125" shouldn't they be 32.75"?

I have attached the Assembly piece for you to look at if you would like. I think this is all I need to attach. Let me know if there are more files I need to upload for you to see it.

It is because you have a 3/8" front inset on the top. Insets do not change the deminsions of the cabinet, only the part.

A tip: you only need to create an assembly if you combine multiple cabinets. Adding standard parts like shelves, partitions, stretchers, moldings, etc are part of the cabinet and do not require it to be saved as an assembly.

This will be important in creating room layouts as assemblies are always placed on floor level, even if they are made of upper cabinets. Additionally, true assemblies of multiple cabinets cannot be resized as a unit--each cabinet in the assembly must be resized individually.
