Shelf Assembly

Okay guy's --- I can't figure this one out or maybe it's just too late in the day. Here is an assembly that I am trying to put a shelf in that I made from a deck and face frame and I want to angle the back up and add some more above and below for shoe shelves. It won't let me do anything and keeps saying I can only edit one cabinet at a time.

Wally, are you trying to angle the shelves?

If this is what your trying to do? If so, just bring in a display panel of the correct size and insert it by rotating it to what ever angle you need.

In your picture it looks like you have only selected the face frame on the deck cabinet. Hit the esc key to clear everything then double click on the cabinet to highlight the entire cabinet then you should be able to rotate it.

Kerry, do you have a solution for this that results in a cab, for which all the parts will be in nests?

Damon's suggestion of the use of display panels might get you to a rendering, buy in my limited experience, a display panel is just a doodad for accessorizing a render, and won't give you something you can use for building, i.e., CNC cutting.

You could also use stretchers to place in your cabinet as your shelves. You could make the stretcher the correct size that the shelves need to be and also rotate them in the stretcher editor to the correct angle.

Gene, the shelves do nest on ecab, the question is, why don't they nest together?

Display cubes are the "doodads for rendering."

Display panels are included in nesting diagrams while display cubes are not. Both display panels and display boards are included in the cost sheet.

Thanks guys --- Damon .. that last pic is exactly what I want. I will try it again with display panels. I thought I could do it with a shelf that would be re sizable .. made from a cabinet. When I selected the face frame and the deck it would not do anything for me.

Thanks Kerry -- You saved me a lot of time redoing this. I went back and sure enough I was only single clicking on the shelf. As soon as I DC it everything worked like it was supposed to.

The stretcher suggestion was an excellent recommendation for this type of shelf construction.

Either way works fine, If you wanted to dado the shelves and make them fixed, I would go that route, Other wise it is just as easy to bring in display panels. I would think there would be less steps involved with the display panels.

The advantage to the way Wally is doing this is the fact that he can easily re-size the shelves made from a cabinet. With display panels you would have to delete then place new panels every time you re-size the cabinet.
