I think it would be a nice feature in the wall editor to be able to specify the depth of cut for a shape you place on a wall in addition to just cutting completely through it. That way you could make a thick wall and just cut a nook into it. This would be great for entertainment center nooks and the shallow nooks for nick-knacks.

Re: Another Wish - depth of cut for Wall Edits
Joe, in a round about way you can do that. Leave out the wall that you want to put the cubby hole in and replace it with a display cube of the same texture as your wall and then you can edit the display cube. Not exactly what you want, but it is a work around.

Re: Another Wish - depth of cut for Wall Edits
Thanks Damon. You are right, there are plenty of work-arounds, but don't you think it would be nice not to have to use them? The Part Editor has a depth of cut feature, so I would think that it should be fairly easy to implement the same thing in the Wall Editor.
Another work-around is to place another wall just behind the wall you are cutting into. This might be a bit easier than the display cube method.
The rendering I've attached is of a wall 36" thick. The nook is 30" deep due to a wall placed behind the thick wall. It's actually sort of embedded in it.
Do you mind dimming that light a bit?
Thanks,
Joe

Is the light too Brite, I was wondering what that glare was on the screen ???? yes Joe, I agree with you on the wall thing. Like everything else, it may come in time with a future update. I have learned to just work around issues and be patient.
