Hole Patterns:

Is the only way to input hole patterns onto a side panel using a selected hardware. i have the hole patterns created and saved as a .ptn, so can i just input my saved file instead of using the hardware given? this is because we use our own hardware

The hole pattern files can be used only when hardware is associated with the cabinet. If you just want to create hole patterns for machining on a CNC, you can use the Part Editor and save the geometry as an x_t file that can be applied to any cabinet part.

ye this ok but changing the depth of the cabinet meens we will have to change the holes each time, which may take some time with 4 shelves.

You can still use hardware in the software...just remove it from your shopping cart when you submit your order.

You associate your pattern with a piece of hardware that you will not be using and add that to the cabinet.

Another thing you can do is to constrain the (Part Editor) holes to the front edge of the cabinet ends. This will keep the the same distance fron the front no matter what depth you make the cabinet.

The easiest way to handle this is to just associate your pattern to a slide that is in the system that you know you will never use, and choose that slide as if it were the slide you are using. If you place an order just remember to delete the slides in the shopping cart.

ok thanks guys i will prob do it this way, another question tho is; if you have already inputted the drawers can you then assotiate the hardware afterwards or does it have to be done when creating the drawers. this is because i have set up a standard size so that it can be resized and hopefully add the holes afterwards. if i cant do this i will have to then create a certain amount of different sized cabinets

You can still associate hardware holes to doors or drawers already created.

Just take the cabinet back into the door/drw editor
Click on the drawer (highlighting it green)
Select your hardware that you pattern is associated to in define defaults or with the hardware selection tab
Click OK

Now you should be able to see your pattern on the cabinet when you return to main editor

yes i do this and my holes dont show up, and yet when i start from scratch creating a draw and set the hardware and assosiate the hole pattern it works

for the hardware holes to show up you must first set a default Hinge, Hinge Mount, Door Drawer Editor Slide and Drawer Box Editor Slide. These Hardware Items must have Hole patterns associated to them when they were chosen as defaults.
You can see the defaults of a cabinet in the Cabinet Editor by clicking on the Define Defaults/ Add items Icon then clicking on Go to Cabinet Defaults. This will show all of the default hardware associated to this cabinet. If there is default hardware showing you can click edit then click on Associate a Hole Pattern to ad a hole pattern to this slide. If you have already associated a pattern to this slide it will ask you if you want to change it. You now have a default hardware item with a hole pattern associated. Now when you add a drawer with front or a drawer box or a door, the system will automatically add this particular hardware item and show the hole pattern you have associated to it. If you want a different hole pattern for a different sized cabinet, you must change the default hardware item to a new default item that is the proper length for that cabinet that has the proper hole pattern associated to it. For example if your beggining cabinet is a 24" deep cabinet with a default 22" long slide with proper holes associated, you cannot resize that cabinet to a 20" deep cabinet and get proper hole patterns showing without changing the default slide to an 18" that has that hole pattern associated to it. it is just like the real world, you can't fit a 22" inch slide into an 18" deep cabinet.
