I'm getting ready to cut a variety of small parts from corian...can someone please help me with tooling (does anyone purchase specific bits for solid surface or will or normal carbide bits work okay) spindle speed and cutting speeds.
Mark
I would use a Vortex 1/2" Three Flute Low Helix Upcut Finisher. The spindle speed would be 18,000RPM and Feed Speed would be 200-350 IPM. If you are interested in getting a couple of these tools, you can call Thermwood at 1-877-880-4638 and ask for Jessy or Erin. The part number for this tool is VX04445. If you have any other questions feel free to call me.
I cut a fair amount of SS and have always used a 1/4" upshear with a short flute. Better clean out and less waste. 18000 rpm at 180 to 200 ipm. Skin small parts and run climb cut. This will avoid leaving an edge.
