Is it possible for the vacuum hold down system on Thermwood's to be 'wired in', so that when you start cutting, it automaticly induces hold down? This would eliminate the lever or levers at the front of the machine. It seems strange that with all the advancement in technology that we have to manual induce the vacuums with the lever. There must be an explanation for this that I am unaware of. If the levers need to be there for a particular reason...what about having the option to use either?

Hi Dale,
Currently, Thermwood does not offer any type of automated vac ON/OFF system. However, if you decide to implement your own system, you have the ability to hard wire system to the THM Control using the open Input/Outputs which can be found on your wiring schematics. Once you've wire a system to the control, you would then be able to monitor the Inputs and control the Outputs using M codes and possibly even some AFL (Advanced Function Language) in your cnc programs.

Re: Vacuum lever becoming automated?
Hello Dale,
Actually, we do have a new vacuum on/off control, with is air actuated, available for new machines. It will be standard on a new model we just released, the MTR series. This new style vacuum on/off was needed because of an unload rake that is also available on this model. It does not include a vacuum input sensor switch to detect proper vacuum levels, but does insure that the vacuum level is low enough to allow the rake to begin its cycle. By the way, the manual system on your machine was and still is the least expensive method, and is much less prone to mechanical failure.
