Cut and Paste between rooms?

Cut and Paste between rooms?
I have a walnut slab that I modified in the part editor with arcs on both ends. When I cut it using the menubar editor and then paste it into another layout, the slab is duplicated but the texture disappears. Is this a problem or am I doing something wrong?
