CANT CHANGE MATERIALS IN CUSTOM LAYOUT
Any of you gurus able to help a newbee!Have my job loaded in custom layout,go to detail room (plan view) right click>change sheet stock>click on select all>pick the new sheet stock and load>click apply, ecabs does its thing and says its done but when I return, rendering is still in the old material. Also if I run a cut list it shows the old material for all except one sheet in the new material.I then go back to change sheet stock, expand the tree and it says that all has been changed.Should I put my disk in and run repair?? or being on the bottom of the planet am I doing things upside down!!

Please send in your job file. I will follow your steps to change the material and see if I get the same thing as you.

Re: CANT CHANGE MATERIALS IN CUSTOM LAYOUT
Al,
All of the materials changed for me except the top of the upper cabinet. This has been a problem for a while and has been reported but it wouldn't hurt to report it again. The material change problem is also greater using assemblies. I would suggest placing your cabinets in a room as cabinets instead of assemblies unless an assembly is the only way to build the cabinet.
The doors must be changed using the Door Drawer editor to get them to change.

Re: CANT CHANGE MATERIALS IN CUSTOM LAYOUT
Thanks Kerry,I will give that a try.Is this the only way to change the colour for a job? Sometimes all clients want to see is what a different colour will make there job look like.

Al,
The easiest way to change color is to change the texture associated to your materials in Preferences then when you open the job again it will show the new colors.
The Change material functionshould work but it still seems to have some bugs in it.

Re: CANT CHANGE MATERIALS IN CUSTOM LAYOUT
Al,
I forgot to mention above that if you just change the texture of materials you will still have to change doors and drawer fronts on the job as well as display panels to get the new color.
I just tried the Change Materials/Sheet Stock function on the Beta of version 5.2 and it seems to be be working properly so maybe this will work for you with the release of 5.2.

Re: CANT CHANGE MATERIALS IN CUSTOM LAYOUT
Hi Al,
Another way that you can change the colour of your doors and drawers while in custom layout is to double click all units with doors on, right click, adjust cabinet features, change, doors then follow your nose. You can do the same again with drawer fronts aswell.
If you are changing to a grained material this may not work how you want it to on drawer fronts as when you add your drawer fronts when designing the individual cabinet you may have left the grain direction at 0 degrees. For the grain to show verticle you really need to set it to 90 degrees for it to show correctly.
I know this works on individual cabinets but it may not work the same on assemblies.
If it doesnt work on assemblies you may need to double click the assembly, right click, edit assembly. Double click one cabinet at a time on the assembly then save, you can save the individual cabinet to your library then put the units in your room one at a time. This way you can changed all of the door/drawer materials quickly and easily.
Hope this helps, if it doesn't, feel free to give me a call.

THis has been fixed for the next release, you will just have to regenerate all the cabinets in the job. For now I can change all the material except the top of the upper cabinet assembly. Here you would just have to take this cabinet assembly to the cabinet editor and change the top material in the construction settings. Then return to the room and all the material will have changed over. If you have any questions feel free to call me.
