Installation Problems

Post by Dale Wills »

Hi,

Having trouble installing Ecabs on my laptop and need a little help. I'm running Vista and have already successfully had it installed. I have since deleted it because I was unable to access cabinet directories because of Vista's security. I planned to install again whilst following all the points from the 'Vista Installation' thread on the forum. So I have followed all the points about 'Running As Administator' and as compatible with XP service pack 2. Everything installed as per normal until I have to download the latest patch for the internet. I download the patch to the hard-drive and installed whilst 'Running As Adminstator' and I get this error message attached. I have also tried updating to the latest version through Ecabs itself and get the same error message. I have also tried disabling User Access Control (UAC) settings all together. Any ideas?

Dale

When you downloaded the update, did you save it to the computer or run from the download? You have to save it to the computer for it to work properly.

Dan,

Yes, I downloaded the update to my hard drive then went from there.

The error dialog says it is trying to find the update file in a network location. Try saving the file to your desktop and run it from there.

The update is saved to my desktop. Its looks like it starts to install then the error message pops up. It doesn't make sense to me

If you look at the file properties, what is the size? You might want to download the update again to see if it was corrupted during downloading.

I tried downloading it again....same problem. I have a feeling that there is files that are getting left behind after uninstall that are complicating things.

Yeah, I'm sort of at an end on suggestions. You might want to send an email to cabinets@thermwood.com and see if the eCabinets tech support folks can come up with anything.
