cant profile edge in part editor

cant profile edge in part editor
I made the attached tool (my first effort) and want to use it to make a fluted post to plant on the front of a cabinet.The post is 60mm x 30mm.I just cant get it to profile the part.If I load a post 60mm x 60mm Its not a problem to profile half of it but I cant split it in half as the programme says you cant cut something with a profile already on it.In essence I want a fluted turned post cut in half.What am I doing wrong?

Forget this post guys I worked it out.I turned the tool 90 degrees then put a cut path down the middle of the post and it worked a treat.Hey this is the first time I've been able to give an answer to a problem on the forum.Too bad it was my own!! L.O.L
