This is a very serious question. I am trying to purchase a laptop for ecabs. and I am really struggling with the options. I have been on Dell outlet and I just gloss over. Will a different model work? I noticed that there are several processors such as T7300 or T7400 and I wonder if that will do the same job as a T7700. Does the workstation have to be a M6300 model? I am aware of ecab recommedations but seem to be having a problem pinpointing that exact system. Is it possible for any of you to visit with me through PM to help point me in the right directionl?

Hi John.I had no luck with Dell down here in New Zealand and ended up with a Sony Vaio laptop model:VGNFE28GP have a NVIDIA 128mg graphics card and got the biggest ram available at the time.Had it for 18 months and goes great.When I do a custom layout presentation view I HIDE ALL HARDWARE otherwise it takes to long to render if its a big job.I'm sure the newer models are faster again.NVIDIA have come out with some huge graphics cards .Might be another option for you other than Dell.

In Version 5.2 you can click on the Presentation View Settings and lower the level of detail for pulls. This allows you to leave the pulls visible and still render the view. You might also want to play with the Ray Trace option of rendering views instead of the scan line and see how that works for you.

After you Render a view in Custom Layout you will see a Presentation View Settings Button. Click that and you can then change the level of detail for your pulls and you can choose Scan Line or Ray Trace for your presentation view render method. Scan Line and Ray Trace just use different methods to render the objects and look at light and reflection differently. Ray trace seems to render a little faster but I don't like the look of the image as well. Play with them and see which works better for you.
