Profile Edge

Post by leigh mills »

Hi guys

I have profiled an edge and on each corner I have a radius. I am then having problems in the constraint manager as I cant lock the outer profile, as the nodes are on the part because I have a radius corner.

So if you use a panel and put a radius on all the corners then add a profile tool, I cant seem to get the tool to hold its position.

Can someone help me?

Thanks,

Leigh Mills

Leigh,
I think to get the results you want, you need to open up a standard cabinet and remove all of the parts except for the Back Panel. Use this back panel as your part. Apply and contrain the radii on your corners. Next, apply your profiled edge. At this point you should be able to control the panel width and height the same way you change the dimensions of the cabinet. And you can change the radius of each corner by going back into the Constraint manager and editing you radius values. The profiled edge should adjust to your changes.

If this is not the response you were looking for, let me know.

Leigh,

Are you using the fillet command to create the radius corners (not the one in contour mode area)? I do it this way and then run a tool around it (that does not breech the corner rad.) and all works great. Being on the perimeter of the part like this will not even require you to add constraints to it (it will stay with it by default). Simply load the part to the part editor, and in the main area choose fillet. HTH
