This has been discussed many times, but not lately, you might do a search for it.I used to use the line bore system as you do now and thought I would stay with it even after I got a router, I was a strong proponent for incorporating it into the software. Now that I have a router, I would not use the full hole system as it is not needed. In fact i know look at all those extra holes as a eyesore.If you are using a line boring machine and just looking for presentaion, you can get close enough with shelves, if your looking for machining through the production sharing I would look at just using the holes you need for slides, hinges, shelves, misc.
Ok here is a really dirty work around: Put an adjustable shelve either at the top or the bottom of the unit. Give it a left or right inset that is virtually equal to the opening width so that the shelf all but disappears. Next depending on the position of the shelf specify a quantity of holes above or below at 32mm spacings that will equal the opening hight. Got that? If not take two Aspirin and call me in the morning.
Hi John. We do plenty of wardrobes/ closets and we only bore up the holes required for the shelf with 2 up and 2 down for some adjustment. Even then some fussy folk find the surplus holes ugly and want us to plug them.
Every once in a while I'll get someone who is fussy, but for the most part, people hardly comment. In reach in and walk in closets, having the extra holes allow people to have extensive adjustability.
When doing in offices and entertaiment centers, all the extra holes aren't necessary.
As I work with the program more, I am finding that I can show the holes I need to and it isn't too big of a problem.
Yes, closet systems are different. I also build a fair amount of those and I drill them to the max so that the client can reconfigure from hanging to adj. shelves, whatever they might like.
